Main components of cooling and cooling equipment
Dec 20, 2024| The main components of the cooling system include: coolant, thermostat, water pump, radiator, cooling fan, water temperature sensor, reservoir, heating device, etc. These components each play important roles in the cooling system.
Coolant: Coolant, also known as antifreeze, is mainly composed of antifreeze additives, additives that prevent metal corrosion, and water. It needs to have anti freezing, anti-corrosion, thermal conductivity, and non deteriorating properties. Coolant usually uses ethylene glycol as the main component, with anti-corrosion additives and water added
Thermostat: The thermostat automatically adjusts the amount of water entering the radiator based on the temperature of the cooling water, changing the water circulation range to ensure that the engine operates within the appropriate temperature range. If the thermostat does not work properly, it will affect the normal operation of the engine and may cause the engine to overheat or overcool
Water pump: The function of the water pump is to pressurize the coolant and ensure its circulation in the cooling system. The malfunction of the water pump is usually manifested as water seal damage causing leakage, or bearing problems causing abnormal rotation. The water pump drives the impeller to rotate through the pulley, allowing the coolant to circulate in the system
Radiator: The radiator is connected to the water outlet holes on the engine cylinder head and the water pump inlet through rubber water pipes. The coolant flows inside the radiator core, while air passes outside the radiator. The strong suction force generated by the fan increases the air flow and velocity of the radiator, thereby cooling the cooling water
Cooling fan: The cooling fan works at slow speed and in place to help dissipate heat from the radiator. The start of the fan is controlled by a water temperature sensor. When the engine temperature exceeds a certain value, the fan will automatically start
Water temperature sensor: The water temperature sensor is a temperature switch. When the engine inlet water temperature exceeds 90 ℃, it will turn on the fan circuit to help dissipate heat
Storage tank: The storage tank is used to replenish coolant and buffer changes in "thermal expansion and contraction" to ensure the normal operation of the cooling system
Heating device: Similar to a radiator, used to provide interior heating in cold seasons
These components work together to ensure that the engine maintains an appropriate temperature under various operating conditions, thereby ensuring its normal operation and extending its service life.
